And Lest We Forget…

The vague idea of this website is to post ‘arty’ photos of people imitating the statues of the world.

However, inspired by an email sent in from Adem (above) in which he stated that he wasn’t quite sure whether his photo was suitable as it didn’t involve imitation, tonight I am going to post a selection of statues sent in by lovely visitors that do not quite cut the imitation mustard, but are fine looking monuments nonetheless! Wouldn’t want to be accused of being a statue snob eh?

Although Adem’s statue doesn’t attempt any statue mimicry, it does show him being held up by a whopping great pirate (in a themed bar near Calais, France, apparently). Brilliant! And it was taken on his birthday as well (I’ll leave you to guess the date)…

The next statue was sent in ages ago by Becky, and again there’s no real statue replication going down, but it does feature the whole family gaining shelter under the Umbrella Man statue, situated in the Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland, Oregon.

Thanks also to Lee for sending in the following two pictures: one featuring his brother stood by a fine looking King Kong statue next to a diner in the state of Virginia, and the next one just down the road at Foamhenge, an exact duplicate of the original Stonehenge, but made of construction foam. Once again, no imitating per se, but some damn fine monuments that need to be bought to the attention of the world nonetheless…

Finally, thanks to Becca for sending this one in of her husband stood by his favourite gal in the British Museum. Perhaps we can be thankful that there wasn’t an accurate imitation here?!

Please do keep sending in your photos folks (my email address can be found in my profile just to the right), and I promise they will get published eventually!

Only another 20 or so people and you'll have hit the 80,000 people on your website mark, well done Statue John!

I've been very very very slack in keeping up with my blogroll, so a little late, but cheers for putting up my photo.

Keep up the good work.
