New York Niceties...

Ahem. Yes I know. I am absolutely rubbish at updating this blog. Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. *slaps self*

Anyway, enough slaps, tonight we continue with a long overdue shout out to Sarah, aka Rufus fan, author of A rest is as good as a change, and last seen here getting ever so slightly intimate with Robin Hood! I have already received many statue snaps from her various travels so far this year, for which we at statue towers are eternally grateful. We hope the travels are going very well, and wish all the best for future imitations.

*cough* These pictures were received at some stage in mid-December, from a trip Sarah took to New York with her Canadian friend Alison. The pictures above and below were taken in the hugely impressive Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Above we find Alison sat by some of the statues in the Temple of Dendur exhibit, while the photo below features Sarah standing in front of a copy of 'The Burghers of Calais' by Auguste Rodin (the original of which is in front of the town hall in Calais). This pic was taken just before they got a stern telling off from a very officious man (presumably a museum employee) - for using flash photography, and for resting my umbrella on the plinth of the statue exhibit! Hurrah for breaking the law in order to obtain that vital statue imitation snap I say!

Finally, Alison stands by the granddaddy of all statues, the Statue of Liberty, from a slightly different angle than the one last featured on this site. Slightly less fizzy weak beer involved in this pose as well!

Soon to come from Sarah’s travels: Mexico and the Netherlands. Watch this space…

Definitely the nicest things that I've seen in New York ever! And clever, as well----

Ballerina, have I ever told you - you're my favourite commenter on Stand By Your Statue?

What were they doing with your umbrella?

I have a picture from the Metropolitan Museum for you *reminded* - I just about caught some random Japanese standing by their hieroglyphs!

Yep. Ballerina is a legend around these parts. We're not worthy really!

I never realised the Statue of Liberty was holding sunglasses....
