Statue Nirvana...

I seem to recall mentioning last week that I had a big statue to share with you, and here it is. Massive!

It is located in Budapest, Hungary, to which friends Rich and Laura recently visited. I have a huge collection of brilliant photos from said trip, enough to rival the Boston Collection, so shall be publishing these intermittently over the next month or two…

Of all the statues I have posted over the past year and half there is no doubt that this is one of the most exciting of the lot, given the location. It is actually located on the outskirts of Budapest at a place called Statue Park – which basically statue nirvana for all willing imitators! Naturally, Rich and Laura were like kids in a candy store with such a huge range of Statues to Stand By, and there are many more photos from the park to come…

At the fall of the ex-Soviet Union, all of the communist statues were removed from Budapest to create the outdoor museum that is Statue Park. Below is a photo of the same statue from slightly further away. Like I said, massive!

What is the statue holding that looks like a banner blowing? Maybe it's a communist flag? Any ideas? I like the post, Statue John.
