Unfortunately, I am unable to find proof on the interweb, but can confirm that this statue of LOVE is in NYC, somewhere near Madison Square gardens i believe.

Never been to Philadelphia, so looks as if they've been spreading the love...!

Does the fact that there's a "New York Pretzel" wagon behind you count as proof that you're not in Philadelphia?

If not, surely the fact that Rocky isn't jogging past you eating soft cheese is also working in your favour.

Thanks John. Spent a good half hour trying to find proof that this statue of LOVE was in fact in NY, and there it was staring me in face!

But it IS Philly that is famous for Pretzels...hmmm maybee zoom in on an outo tag..Saw the gates in Ny Central Park today while delivering a Horse statue to a NY Restaurant...They are everywhere in the park. Quite impressive. I expect a photo of you there tommarow.

the New York pretzel van theory isnt exactly watertight. What if the statue was in front of, for arguments sake, an advert for Mars?

OK - because I'm obsessive:

This is the same statue (or sculpture if we're getting all pedantic about it) in Philadelphia. John clearly isn't standing in front of this one.

The scuplture itself is the signature work of pop artist Robert Indiana.

The sculpture can also be found in Scottsdale, but John's clearly not standing in front of that one either.

Another version of it lives in Wichita. But again, John's not there.

There's one on the campus of Middlebury College in Vermont too, but John's not standing by that one.

There are yet more versions in Utah, Vancouver, and even in Singapore - but John's not standing by any of them.

Hell, if you want one for yourself, you can even buy one here. If you asked him nicely, John might come round to your house and stand by it for you too.

However, the one John is standing in front of is located here, on the corner of Sixth Avenue and 55th Street in New York, New York.

That's it - I'm starting a new website... standbyyourlove.com

Judging by how this one gets around, it is clearly the tart of all statues.

Of course, the photo could have been taken in Philadelphia, then digitally manipulated to make it look like John was in New York. A cunning plan to throw everyone off the scent.

But what would I know, I was only stood behind the camera.......

(Is the Scottsdale one on the golf course?)

And how come the one post, John couldn't be arsed to put any text against has generated so many comments?

What can i say? Research of the highest order.

Folks get out there and stand by your LOVE (and then send myself or John the picture!)

Wotchit. I thought long and hard about my (New York) monologue....very proud of it.

This guy hasn't quite got the hang of standing by your LOVE.

Nice Love III skills..... Stand by your love III? He'll presumably be over in the UK in the summer..... moving target though.
But a helluva nice guy. Darren Clarke likes him, so he must be either:
a) a big drinker
b) a big cigar smoker
c) (and this is where my money is) all of the above.

The LOVE statue in Philadelphia is mounted on what appears to be a structural line drawing of a pedestal. The original can be seen at this link:

This particular LOVE statue IS in NYC. It is on the corner of 55th and 6th (Ave of Americas). The building behind it is Gallery House. No photoshop here, it's the real mccoy. Check it out for yourself, only a few blocks directly north of Radio City Music Hall on 6th.

This statue is in New York. I live there. I see it all the time.

I know you probably already proved well enough that he is in nyc, but, this being my city, i feel obligated to point out that if you look behind him and/or zoom in, you can see the champs sign and all our wonderful streetsigns that are intentionally placed too high for people to reach so that they dont get graffitied though somehow this happens anyway. Also, the one in philly is above a waterfountain, as opposed to on a concrete street corner.
