More Monkey Business...

To anyone who may still be poking their eyes in here…

My heartiest apologies to not having contributed around here for a while. Having been a bit knocked out with illness for quite a chunk of this year and not being able to actually move much, I have made up for it to a certain extent by catching up with everyone over the past few weeks!

Ahem, I’m not too sure how much more time I’ll have for blogging over the next week or so either, so a happy festive period to you all if I can’t get back. Thanks for all the photos you’ve sent in during the year and for all the kind comments. Apologies to those whose photos I am still hoarding away, but they all will get posted very soon-ish I hope…

Before the year end, I’ll attempt to publish some stats from Year One of SBYS. Surely one of the more popular animals featured has been the monkey (hooray!), and I am delighted to say here’s another one. Thanks to Steve (pictured) and Hels for sending this in.

Hunting High and Low...

This evening we take a slight detour from our trip around Boston to once again hail Mrs Mac, star of a number of pictures published in early June sometime…

This gives me an excuse to post another statue from my hometown of Oxford. Here, Mrs Mac is in some deep thought as she tackles a statue of John Hunter at the Natural History Museum here in the Ox. Aunty Wikipedia reveals that Mr Hunter was a famous surgeon and renowned anatomist from the 18th century. The museum is an interesting place to take a walk around and has a quality selection of fossils!

I’ve got a few more missions planned to stand by statues in Oxford, of which there are many, so watch this space …

I was kind of tempted to name this post Return of the Mac, but that would have been way to cheesy, so have opted for an alternative song title instead.

Google Games...

Helloooo. My apologies for the total lack of posts in recent times, due to myself being on holiday. Apologies too for not actually warning you that I was on my hols too, not particularly good blog etiquette on my behalf…

More statues from Boston this evening, this time featuring the third member of the touring party, John VdP, (a.k.a. Housemate John). A little while back, John was explaining to his uncle that how if you plonked his full name into Uncle Google, then nothing would appear in the search relating to him. His uncle didn’t believe this so when testing out the theory, John was a little bemused to find a picture of him clutching a can of beer on the screen. Yep, slightly unbeknown to him, Stand By Your Statue had given him that new level of fame whereby his name now appears in a Google search. Hurray!

Mr VdP continues a great tradition of imitating statues with this interpretation of Samuel Eliot Morison, a famous American historian, who resided in Boston.
